Art Therapy for Parkinson's disease

In partnership with the American Parkinson Disease Association, Stanford is offering a virtual “Connecting Through Art” (CTA) session for the local Bay Area Parkinson’s community.

The APDA’s “Connecting Through Art ” program offers people with PD the space and ability to express feelings, emotions, and daily concerns through drawing and painting.  This gathering will provide a supportive and therapeutic environment that encourages participant reflection as you participate in art activities that help strengthen fine motor movements.

Exciting new studies have proven that art therapy may be especially beneficial to those with PD:

The Stanford-CTA program is open to any adult who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. The program is free, however, registration is required. Participants do NOT need to purchase art supplies to participate.

The 90-minute program is open to those with Parkinson’s and their care partners. This CTA program is free, but advance registration is required as attendance is limited.  No artistic abilities are required! Participants do not to purchase art supplies for the session.  The facilitator is art therapist Christine Hirabayashi, PhD.  This program is sponsored by the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
