This piece is 3/3 of the Portraying Perception collection. Through this project, I explore the neurological basis of self-identity: the way our brain integrates information from our life experiences and strengthens connections between neurons to create the memories we cherish so dearly — or cringe at.
Neuronal plasticity is defined as the ability of the nervous system to change its activity in response to internal and environmental stimuli by reorganizing its structure, functions, or connections. This is how memories are formed and how learning takes place, as information from our bodies and our surroundings are grouped into experiences. This is also how learning takes place in the brain. The brain is incredibly dynamic, and adapts to our individual situations… hence creating a unique human experience among each and every one of us.

As much as I love this piece on its own, it really shines when it’s on the wall with its sister pieces. I encourage you to check them out as well!
